Dr Mohamed Wahid, director of prevention at the Ministry of Health revealed to “El Khabar” that 60% of collective intoxications have been recorded in restaurants, whereas the rest 40% have been recorded in family meals, like weddings. Dishes which have been served in collective restaurants represent 39.5 % of poisonings, followed by the products used in sweets, cooling and baking industries with 35 %, whereas milk and dairies represent 18 % of the sources of food poisoning. Statistics recorded last year show up a mere dropping, compared to previous years since the number of poisoned people in 2004 for example reached 3535 caused the death of 5, whereas in 2005, 8 people died among 3425 intoxicated. On another hand, 48 519 people have been hit by scorpions stings along last year causing the death of 62 people which indicates also a mere drop in the number of dead since 1999 in which 150 people died. | ||||||||||||||||||
