Mr Abdelmalek Saih, who has been the guest of “El Wadjiha” radio program yesterday, said that the government will soon be finishing elaborating executive texts and decrees for the new anti drug law which will enter into effect in the next few days. Mr. Saih explained that the new measures of the concerned executive texts are related to the prevention aspects as the drug addicted person would have the opportunity to be treated as a patient and would not thus be a subject of legal punishment only in case he returns to the consumption of drugs another time. Mr. Saih has driven an alarm about the emergence of signs indicating that Algeria is going to shift from drugs transit and consumer country into a producer one. In this context, the General Manager of Drug-countering National Office revealed that security services confiscated in April more than 60 thousand opium plants in Adrar, while confiscating 1025 of cannabis plants during the first trimester of this year, confirming however that drugs planting is taking its way in some regions like Bejaia, Batna, El Oued, Mascara, Tizi Ouzou and Algiers where there has been discovered some drug seedlings planted in Zeralda (west of Algiers). | ||||||||||||||||||
