Morocco not ready to overcome occupation policy Morocco not ready to overcome occupation policy

Sahrawi foreign affairs minister
Tuesday Jun 12 2007.

Sahrawi foreign affairs minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek expressed his regret as regards the so-called « the absence of a positive indicator that shows Morocco readiness to overcome occupation and fait accompli policy ».

The diplomatic official revealed that the delegation to negotiate on the behalf of Polisario front on June 18 will be headed by Mahfoud Ali Beiba, member of the national commandment.

Ould Salek explained Sahrawi fears as regards Mohamed VI turnarounds compared to Late Hassan II flexibility and stated: “Mohamed VI government abandoned 1991 peace plan, it also ejected Baker plan” and undermined “the international community efforts for Western Sahara decolonization through pacific and democratic means”.

Ould Salek is due to visit New York before negotiations start in order to meet with Van Valsum the UN special envoy « in order to pave the way by tackling the technical aspect », and the Sahrawi government expects negotiations to last a long time noting that they are the starting point of a long process between Polisario and the Moroccan government.
