Coast guards arrest 19 clandestine migrants in Arzew
They were sailing illegally to Spain
Wednesday Jun 13 2007.
Well informed sources pointed out that Oran and Arzew coast guards arrested 19 clandestine migrants yesterday morning while trying to escape by sea to Spain on two boats.
Sources added that coast guards received information saying some young people had sailed from Arzew coasts toward territorial waters.
Coast Guard services set off a quick search in the sea which permitted to find the two boats at around 7 am. The guards arrested 19 clandestine migrants during the same operation.
It is worth noting that the 19 people decided to collect money and buy the two boats then sail towards the unknown. Encouraged by yesterday’s nice weather, the 19 “harraga” made their first attempt to reach Spanish coasts but they’ve been caught the coast guards.
