A Conference on civil society related issues opened yesterday

Proceedings of the conference on civil society work programs and strategies organized by al Kawakibi centre for democratic change kick-start has been given yesterday in Amman by the attendance of an array of Arab

intellectuals and representatives of the Arab civil society associations, among them Mr. Ali Djerri El Khabar President General Manager.

In his opening statement the head of the center Highness al Hassan Ibn Talal underscored the need to “carefully consider the current situation so as to come up to elaborate a citizenship chart for the Arab nation”. He focused in his opening address on Arab civil society status quo.

In this respect, El Khabar press circulation group general manager Mr. Ali Djerri is expected to deliver a conference on obstacles impeding freedom of speech in the Arab world in his capacity of a member of al Kawakibi centre secretary’s council.

The conference proceedings due to end Tuesday witness the convening of three workshops related to civil society in the Arab world such as development, peace and democracy, democracy and human safety, in addition to freedom of speech and international initiatives meant to back up democracy.
