Wage raise for 40 thousands Sonatrach workers before 2007 end
3 billion dollars spent in senior officials training

Energy and Mines Minister Mr. Chakib Khalil revealed yesterday that Sonatrach Group has spent 3 billion dollars within 6 years in order to train 162 thousand senior officials.
The minister announced then the decision to raise wages of 40 thousand workers in the company before the end of 2007.
Mr. Khalil added in a statement to the Algerian radio that the decision would concern the rest of the company’s workers who are estimated at 132 thousands. Observers said that this decision has come in response to the draining of its senior officials and engineers joining international companies operating in Algeria attracted by the advantages offered including a higher wage.
