Mr. Hamdi Mohamed El Amine said that the number of Accountants in Algeria is estimated at around 7 thousands; only 5 thousands are practicing their job in 40 thousand companies, among 2000 accredited accountants; 4000 Auditors and 1000 Experts Accountant of which 1000 are women. Mr. Hamdi summed up the profession’s problems in accountants’ “parallel activity” without any official accreditation, as well as the delicate relationship with judicial institutions which usually amalgamate between an accountant and an administrative manager. Accountant’s council head said they are trying to unify the three specialties under one title called Expert Accountant on the base of job competence instead of seniority. On another side, Mr. Hamdi announced that his Council is about to elaborate the new international accounting system by 2007 end, to come into force by 2009. In this regard, accountants’ council head revealed that 90 accountants have benefited from training sessions to lift level their professional skills, 60 of whom were trained by French experts. Mr. Hamdi added that the council is waiting for World Bank endorsement to allocate 45 million dollars to be devoted for training and building an accounting institute. | ||||||||||||||||||
