As for the security crisis, he said for the first time that authorities favor the political solution instead of the tough military one. In an interview with Channel 1 radio station, Home affairs minister tackled the forthcoming municipality and province bills elaborated by the government, pointing out “the local elected misinterpreted the bill, in fact, we talked about the issue of the Wali prerogatives reconsidering, but it means not that these prerogatives are to be entrusted to the municipal representatives, the Wali will remain the main coordinator in the field”. He further added that the two laws are to “define powers more clearly and will not narrow down municipal elected prerogatives”. Home affairs minister talked also about the local tax law and another law on the financial local system, those are, according to him, more important than the wilaya and municipality codes. On another side, Mr. Nourredine Yazid Zerhouni made clear that authorities consider the security solution not “efficient alone” and has to be accompanied by a political one. He said that those who kept attached to the terrorist activity to destroy the state “illusory”, indicating that those who are to surrender after the charter on peace and national reconciliation deadline expiry (August 2006) are not to benefit from peace law measures. | ||||||||||||||||||
