Education ministry puts in review failing pupils’ results

To increase medium studies success rates between 10 to 15%

Education ministry decided to review the failing pupil’s results in medium studies certificate, by calculating the yearly average plus the certificate average divided into two, which is likely to allow increasing success rates between 10 and 15%.

Education minister Mr. Boubaker Benbouzid ordered the whole Wilayas to re-calculate the academic promotion average of the failing pupils after President Bouteflika remarks in this regard, last week.

During his inauguration of the national conference of education directors, minister Benbouzid underscored the need to start implementing this procedure as of next year. Moreover, in order to avoid “bumping up” marks, the National Office of Competitions and Examinations ONEC is to be entrusted with elaborating exam questions in the three quarters of the school year, which exams are not to be unified nationwide, but each wilaya is to have specific examination questions.

Benbouzid underscored that pupil’s evaluation is no more to be the same, and a new method is to be adopted in this regard.
