Sarkozy is to inaugurate his trip by Algeria which he considers as a principal partner in the project of an EU-like Euro-Mediterranean entity, Elysée spokesman David Martinon revealed yesterday. The French president visit to Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco falls within the promotion to “Sarkozy Euro-Mediterranean Union initiative”, David Martinon unveiled. Nicolas Sarkozy and President Abdelaziz Bouteflika talks are to be devoted to giving a new breath to the two countries economic relations, French sources reported. The same sources mentioned that the Friendship treaty is to be replaced by the renewal of 1986 cooperation conventions, to remain in force for 10 other years. Paris is also to suggest concluding agreements on cooperation in terms of human capital, technical and scientific research as well as the implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement signed in 2006. The French sources further added that a civil nuclear convention is to be signed during Sarkozy visit to Algeria. Noteworthy, since the election of Nicolas Sarkozy, the latter and President Bouteflika have exchanged many letters in which they underline the need to deepen the “distinguished relations between the two countries”, in a way they serve as an ideal relation in the Mediterranean banks. | ||||||||||||||||||
