The visit reflects the extents taken by contentious issues between Algiers and Madrid, merely gas issue, as it is the second visit of Khalil to Spain in less then three months. Algeria, however, awaits a reply from Spain concerning its basic demands, including reviewing gas prices and authorize Sonatrach increasing its gas exports into Spain up to 3 b cubic meters, as well as raising Sonatrach shares in MEDGAS project to 36%. Spain is still reserved, while Sonatrach partners in MEDGAS project have given their support to the Algerian position through submitting a second appeal. Discussions about the controversial gas issue between Algeria and Spain would be inevitable, despite a statement released by Ministry of Energy and Mines underlining that the delegation’s visit to Spain comes in response to an invitation sent by president of CIDOP Institute Narcis Sierra to take part in the ceremony mentioned above. | ||||||||||||||||||
