Saturday Jun 03 2006.

The president Abdelaziz Bouteflika insisted, during the 39th edition of Algeria international fair, Thursday, that foreign investors need to invest in Algeria in the context of a real partnership

Which is not limited to make of Algeria only an open market for foreign goods, like the situation is now, “and he showed severe anger in front of the Chinese ambassador concerning the squeezing of corrupt intermediaries to send, through other countries, products with unimaginable prices”.

The president addressed the Chinese ambassador, while visiting the Chinese wing in the fair, saying “frankly, and in front of the media, it is not acceptable that goods leave china costing 3000 dollars and land in Algeria costing 6500 dollars. I call upon you to inform the Chinese government that Algeria is prepared to deal directly with Peking without intermediaries”.

Bouteflika insisted on the Chinese diplomat to transmit his message to the Chinese leaders, considering the good relationships between the two countries, calling for transparency and clear dealing in the commercial and economic relationships.

The president of the republic expressed his impression by the Chinese products, though. The president criticises, in front of a number of ambassadors who were accompanying him, the foreign companies that practice the method of flooding the Algerian market, and which are only interested in the selling of its goods, saying that such activity “doesn’t help the Algerian economy.” On the other hand, he insisted that the “ the future lies within the partnership”, so, he informed the investors that the full state support is going to be there to achieve their projects in case they stay in Algeria. Bouteflika renewed these proposals in each wing of the fair.

The president expressed his sorrow, when he reached the German wing, for the unjust transfer of the technology from the developed countries, for these countries refused to unveil their industrial plans to the countries from the south hemisphere of the globe. In the same context, he was irritated from the senior Algerian experts in the field of technology going abroad after that Algeria invested in them hugely by comparison with other developing countries. In the Moroccan wing, the president showed his interest in the architectural projects that was styled according to Moroccan traditions.

It is worth pointing out that the international fair activities will continue till 08 June, where 45 countries are represented by more than 110 companies, while 431 Algerian private companies and 84 public ones are participating.
