During a conference on counterfeited products held yesterday in the Trade and Industry Chamber, Mr. Mokrane Hanoune said the volume of seized counterfeited goods jumped to reach alarming rate, warning thus of their danger on consumers’ live. He further mentioned that all the marketed products in Algeria are prone to counterfeiting phenomenon, indicating that 42% of which are car spare parts while 19% are electrical products and 19% are medical and beauty products. During the same conference, a representative of the French tires manufacturer Michelin Algeria revealed that 60 % of tires that bear the brand of Michelin are counterfeited, while a representative of the German lightings manufacturer Osram said 80 % of its products marketed in Algeria are counterfeited. In this context, the president of Employers Forum mentioned that Algerians in general are attracted by counterfeited products’ law prices compared to original ones. Mr. Reda Himani owed it to the fact that the purchase power of Algerians was heavily affected by the economic crisis the country has undergone. | ||||||||||||||||||
