The upper streets of the suspended-bridges city - a common name of Constantine- have turned into huge work sites during the last few days: sidewalks are being tiled, streets being paved, gardens being renovated; works are pursued even on off-duty hours, creating thus an enormous traffic jam mostly in Boussof and Sidi Mabrouk streets. Inhabitants have been surprised to see their cities under renovation works mostly as they have not been seen such dynamic works for ages, while the budget allocated for it is esteemed at 24bn centimes. The renovation operation has started from the main street of the town including all streets that President Sarkozy’s convoy is to move through during the visit.* The same dynamic renovation works are being undertaken on the street linking the centre of Constantine city to Mohamed Boudiaf airport which has already been renovated two months ago before President Bouteflika’s visit. | ||||||||||||||||||
