Multinationals seek business opportunities in water sector

Numerous foreign companies are expected taking part in the 4th international exhibition of water equipments and services, to be organized from 19, to 23.May, seeking business opportunities in a sector to which the treasury has allocated as many as $21 b,

including $250 million for water desalination projects, as the Government is planning the realization of 14 water desalination stations by the end of next 2009.

After the sector of information technologies to which the Government has allotted huge amounts, now the water resources one will obtain the lion’s share. The foreign companies operating in the sector are very interested in the sector’s business opportunities, as the Government is planning constructing 14 desalination stations countrywide, they are expected producing 2 millions cubic meters per day, the projects’ cost is expected totalling $250 b. The sector’s business trends will have a clear aspect during the exhibition. The international fairs organizers, namely Politec, and Media edge, will contribute in its organization, from May 18 to 23rd.

Speaking at a news conference yesterday in Algiers, the Chairwoman of Politec 2008, has announced that 300 company will participate in the fair, 58% will represent 20 country, led by France with 78 company, Spain with 15, Italy with 14, and Germany with 9 companies, while the national companies scheduled to show their products in the fair, are estimated at 95, or 42% of the overall exhibitors.

She further said that on the margins of the fair, some debates will be held by specialists in water technologies, and are being prepared, according to the same speaker; the debates are aiming at integrating Algeria in the international bodies of water technologies.
