The Syrian Jihadi, Omar Abdelhakim, alias Abu Musaab Al-Suri talked, in a long story posted on a Jihadi website, about “chaos,” “absurdity” and “ignorance” among jihadists he arranged with his transfer to Algeria, while keeping a bad souvenir about the former Emir of the Islamic Armed Group, GIA, Djamel Zitouni. Abu Musaab story titled “a sum up of my testimony on Jihad in Algeria,” says the majority of Arab Islamists who joined fighting fiefs in Afghanistan wished, early 1994, that Algeria to be their next jihad battlefield. Omar Abdelhakim, living nowadays in Afghanistan, mentioned that the “godfather” of Arab Afghans and current Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden had sent envoys to Algeria to prospect the needs of GIA under the leadership of Djamel Zitouni, alias Abu Aderrahmane Amine, in terms of arms and money. The testimony of Abu Musaab Al-Suri stresses on the vital and paramount role of “Maghreb Jihadists” in terms of backing terror activities in Algeria since mid-nineties. He said GIA Emir, who used to be chicken merchant before becoming an Emir, received about 40 Libyan fighters, the majority of which participated in the War in Afghanistan against USSR. Abu Musaab further mentioned that some of 40 Libyan fighters were eliminated by Zitouni himself when they tried raising the issue of reasons of killing civilian innocents. I it worth mentioning that terror fiefs in Algeria are still being supported by Libyan terrorists, as security service have already arrested 3 Libyan nationals on the point to join Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in Boumerdès province in April 2007. In turn, Morocco was a rear base for embracing Algerian Afghans since the creation of GIA, while the former GIA Emir Abdelhak Layada travelled to Morocco to meet with them before being arrested by security services there. The circumstances of his arresting are still a mystery; while Layada himself, who benefited from reconciliation procedures, mentioned he keeps many secrets about the involvement of Morocco in the Algerian crisis. Rear bases in Morocco have always been paramount artery-supply for terror fiefs with weapons and terrorists, knowing that security services arrested in 2006 two young Moroccans penetrated from western borders to join the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat, GSPC. However, Tunisian terrorists have also been an effective support for Armed Groups in Algeria. Security services arrested in 2005 and 2006 10 Tunisians on the point of joining Salafist group in eastern the country, before being expelled to their country where they were tried, while well informed sources mentioned that huge number of Tunisians are activating currently in Al-Qaeda. Moreover, The Syrian Jihadi qualified the communication cell Al-Ansar (supporters), which used to be in charge of promoting GIA acts in London via newsletter as absurd, saying the group monitoring the cell had focussed on asylum-seekers and old Algerian and Arab nationals. These latter, added Abu Musaab were “newcomers in terms of religious commitment in addition to their shallow knowledge in terms of religion and life, while I considered several time leaving the cell and backing to where I came from.” He concluded by saying that things he saw in London pushed him changing arrangements he did with another cell in Belgium about his coming to Algeria, pointing out that he decided at that time to comeback to Britain instead. | ||||||||||||||||||
