US company GE Gas & Oil steps up investment projects in Algeria

GE Gas & Oil inaugurates new equipments maintenance unit near Algiers

“Seeing the extending bilateral business cooperation between the US multinational technology and services conglomerate GE Gas & Oil, and its partners in Algeria,

namely Sonatrach, and Sonelgaz, we decided to diversify and step up our activities in the Algerian market, in which our company is installed since1962,” said the CEO of GE Gas & Oil, Mr. Claudi Santiago.

At the occasion of the opening of a new unit of oil, power and gas equipments maintenance at Boufarik, near Algiers, Mr. Santiago said the company owns more than 4 hundred turbines, which will be retrofitted in view of fighting pollution.

As far as the company’s other projects in Algeria, the GE Chairman said numerous executive managers have benefited form training seminars, adding that his company is participating in the transfer of technology and the how-know to Algeria, since 1962. Therefore, the company is determined extending its activities in Algeria, through boosting the mixed company Algesco, which is specialized in the equipments maintenance. GE owns a 52% stake, and it is based in Hassi Messaoud southern Algeria. Meanwhile, the same speaker said the project related to the realization of equipments destined for the water desalination stations, is still into force.
