The former leader in the Libyan Fighting Group, Naaman Ben Othman, told El Khabar, in a phone conversation from Britain, he and his mates detained in Libya, who fought in Afghanistan against URSSR, are ready participating in that move, as soon as they are released. He further added he enjoys enough experience to deal with the abovementioned mission, mostly as he had accurate details on armed groups in the Maghreb. Ben Othman pointed out he took part in the famous meeting in Afghanistan between Bin Laden and representatives of the aforementioned groups to persuade them joining Al-Qaeda, in early nineties. He further said he is sure leaders of the Libyan Fighting Group would play a paramount role in terms of persuading members of Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb region to lay down arms, “since the majority of those leaders, who are detained in Tripoli, know well the majority of the current leaders of GSPC, as they were in charge of training them using arms in Afghanistan’s camps | ||||||||||||||||||
