Monday Nov 24 2008.

The Ambassador of Belgium to Algeria, Christian Van Driessche, admitted that Algerian visa applicants found difficulties, adding that his services are working on to improve the circulation of people procedures, and reducing the period of visa applications treatment.

At the margin of a meeting with economy operators, yesterday, in the Trade Chamber, in Oran, Van Driessche told El Khabar that bureaucracy hindering procedures in terms of delivering visas in Algeria are to be overcome, sooner. He, further, owed bureaucratic hinders to the lack of enough space in the current Embassy, as well as to the lack of enough staff capable of treating visa applications in short time period.

He further mentioned that Belgium Embassy in Algeria received 9000 visa applications in 2007, and managed allocating 6000 visas. Belgian diplomat said his services make reserves in terms of delivering visa “to some adventurers,” in reference to Harragas, and for security concerns. In this context, he reassured economy operators that Belgium Embassy is committed to facilitate delivering them visas, in short time period, after the extension of the Embassy headquarters and the recruitment of additional personnel.
