A source close to the report in Washington told El Khabar, yesterday, that the report is divided into civil and political liberties. The political situation has been devoted a comprehensive examining, from early nineties to last legislative elections. The latter have been qualified as “democratic” compared with other Arab countries, despite wide boycott from voters, added the same source. The report criticizes authorities’ decision in terms of freezing providing accreditations to new born political parities, saying such a step reflects a drop of democratic achievements and shrink of political practice. The same source further mentioned Freedom House has relied on different information provided by human rights organizations and civil associations in Algeria. The report raises freedom of belief issue, saying such freedom is no more guaranteed amid the enforcement of the law regulating religious worships to non Muslims, noting that several people have been tried for not respect of that law.
