Algeria maintains its mediation role in the Tuareg issue

Algeria pursues with great interest the situation in northern Mali, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mourad Medelci.
Speaking on the margins of the Government Plan of Action being debated at Parliament, Mr. Medelci added that Algeria maintains its mediation role between the Malian Government and the Tuareg rebels, in view of bringing back peace to the region.
Meanwhile, the same speaker has indicated that he wishes Algeria’s mediation would be concluded by contributing to the settlement of the conflict in northern Mali. He added that the Algerian mediation efforts have reached satisfying results, so far. Responding a question about the Libyan mediation in this conflict, Mr. Medelci said: “boosting peace process in northern Mali is not detained by Algeria.”
