Sunday Dec 28 2008.

The Ministry of Health and Hospitals Reform has sent a letter recently to hospital’s directors nationwide, ordering them to take punitive measures against practitioners who joined one week strike organized by health trade unions.

This letter has been signed by the General Secretary at the Minister of Health. It orders hospital’s directors nationwide to issue punitive procedures against practitioners who went on strike from 13, to 17.Dec. The letter required the list of strikers, in view of subjecting their salary to deduction.

This procedure has been then, qualified by health trade unions as law infringement.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has given an order to submit the striking practitioners before disciplinary committees, while all health trade unions’ efforts failed to achieve any substantial settlement of striking practitioners’ problems.

In turn, the General Secretary of the practitioners’ trade union said if the situation is going downturn, protests move will go ahead, in an allusion to a 1-week strike scheduled for next January.
