The contracts are related to projects of power plants management and maintenance, as well as gas turbines maintenance. The contracts have been signed between GE and 2 subsidiary companies of the state-owned gas group, Sonelgaz, rather with the mother company. Yet, Sonelgaz’ refutations, early this month of having sealed directly any contracts with GE, are proved to be right. According to the representatives of GE, in Algeria, the first contract is estimated at $420 millions, related to the supplying of 48 gas turbines in 12 power production plants nationwide. It has been struck with a company of power production, an affiliate of Sonelgaz. The second contract, estimated at $600 billions, concerns the construction of a power plant in El Tarf province, eastern Algeria, has been reached between Consortium Company, gathering Sonelgaz, Sogex and GGC; on a period extending 18 years.
