According to the Ministry, such a decision is retroactive and all master and doctoral diplomas granted to Algerian students since the creation of the aforementioned institute are to be withdrawn.
In this context, the Ministerial instruction n.887, issued in ongoing Dec, orders suspending the grant of equivalence to diplomas delivered by the Institute of Arab Research and Studies. The Ministerial instruction said the aforementioned Egyptian institute’s mission is merely the elaboration of researches and studies concerning the activities of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, ALSCO, but not the delivering of academic diplomas, as the universities are in charge of such a mission. According to an Algerian diplomatic source in Egypt, some Algerian students, who are still pursuing their studies at this institute, are about to issue a legal action against the concerned authorities, if the Algerian Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Abdelkader Hadjar, would not make efforts in terms of persuading Algerian Higher Education Minister to withdraw such a decision. | ||||||||||||||||||
