Wednesday Dec 31 2008.

Families of police agents killed by terrorists in the 90’s have called on Ministry of Home Affairs to increase compensation allocated to them by authorities, in the framework of the supplementary measures of the Law of National Reconciliation.

The latter has enabled terrorists’ families to benefit from compensations, too.

In this regard, families of assassinated police agents have indicated that the current death compensation estimated at 11 thousands AD a month is low as living costs in Algeria has soared, especially for families of assassinated agents who left numerous children. The claim of these families came after the raise of death compensations issued by the Law of National Reconciliation for the benefit of families of dead terrorists. Such an increase has been confirmed by an instruction issued by President of the Republic.

Speaking to El Khabar, representatives of the concerned families said they are not opposing the increase of the compensation benefiting terrorists’ families. “It is unfair to treat families of terrorist and Police agents equally,” added the representatives of families of assassinated police.
