Hundreds of Algerian students hold a rally near Algerian Embassy in Cairo

Hundreds of Algerian students have held a rally yesterday near the Algerian Embassy in Cairo, to protest against the decision taken by the Ministry of Higher Education, while abolishing the equivalent diplomas of master and doctorate degrees delivered by the Institute of Arab Studies and Research, based in Egypt.
In a phone call with El Khabar, protesters’ representative said they are calling for an official response by the Ministry, about the future of their diplomas. They qualified the instruction issued by the aforementioned Ministry as “abusive and unjust” as diplomas granted by this institute are equivalent to those delivered by Algerian universities.
In the meantime, the same protesters have called on the President of Republic to intervene to resolve the issue. In their turn, university teachers, who pursued their studies at the Egyptian institute have criticized sharply the decision, and declared it as illegal.
