Justice says Physicians strike illegal

Hraoubia meets them to appease their anger

In a step to appease the anger of the striking physicians, the Minister of Higher Education has met representatives of national unions of university hospitals, while the rectors of medicine universities nationwide have been informed that their strike is illegal.

In this regard, the trade unions composed of professors and lecturers, as well as university professors have held general meetings at Mustapha Bacha hospital, to assess the strike. The meeting has been also an occasion to criticize Administration pressures, as the rectors of medicine universities have received a letter informing them that Justice declared their strike as illegal.

Professor Djidjli Nasredine, the General Secretary of professors and lecturers, has criticized such a procedure, saying that “up to now trade unions representatives have not received a copy of minutes informing them about the judicial verdict in line with the law into force.” He further said that the strike is maintained, while all the hospitals activities will be suspended as by next Jan.17th for a week.

Consequentially, the General Assembly has decided maintaining the strike whatever the results of the meeting being held with the Minister, are, while another General Assembly will be held as by next Saturday, to discuss the next move to take.
