Algeria allocates quarter of Zakat collections for Gaza population

Religious Affairs Ministry has decided allocating the quarter of Algerians’ Zakat collection of 2009 to Palestinians, as to offer financial contribution to Gaza population subject to Israeli assaults.
Religious Orientation Director Assistant, Yahia Douri, said the Ministry’s decision of sending quarter of Zakat money to Gazans is in compliance with Sharia and after consults with several Ulemas who advised to allocate to Palestinians two cuts of the eight different Zakat collections as mentioned in Koran in such circumstances.
Meanwhile Religious Affairs Ministry is to mobilize Imams to call on Algerians to contribute in helping injured people in Gaza and reconstructing it by paying their Zakat, massively.
As far as the way Zakat funds to be transferred to Gazans victims, Douri said the Ministry is to request competent services at the State to transfer the contribution to Palestine. Yet, it is known that Algerians have already indicated that they prefer sending their financial contributions directly to the victims, without any mediation party.
