The project is considered the third of its kind for the French company, where it is expected to make a new factory operational in Algeria, with the partnership of the Tunisian Sotibe for ice creams and biscuits of the same brand. A statement issued by the French company unveiled a decision of the company to enhance its existence in Algeria through the market of canned mineral water. The same statement clarifies that the company signed a contract that allows the buying of the Algerian company for canned mineral water from drunks group Algad. This operation allows Danone to have a company for mineral water canning, plus the right of the exploitation of high quality water sources which is rich in calcium and magnesium. The same statement declared that the source lies nearby the capital and in a protected zone and which have high production capacity that reaches 500 millions litres a year. In the same context, the group pointed out that the first bottles for water under the brand Danone will be released during this summer, and it will bear the name of El-hayet ( life ), that will be, according to the company, a reference to the quality in the Algerian market that is experiencing a growth of 30% a year. The statement points out that the group is reinforcing its existence through having 95% of the capital of Djurdjura in April 2006, and the creation of a company that it will own 51% in a company for biscuits which will be finished in the capital suburb.
