British Telecom suggests strategic partnership and warns

The number one in the world in telecommunication, British Telecom, presented a number of practical suggestions for the top executives of the telecommunication and participations field




Pointing out that there is no necessity for Algérie Télécom to be privatized, explaining that its preservation and its support in technical and technological terms is to be preferred.

The company suggested the creation of strategic partnership and a big communication village that comprises big international groups, the thing that will make out of it a regional centre in the area.

The British delegation, that was presided by the number two in the group of British Telecom, Paul Faulkner, has finished its set of visits of meetings and discussions with heads of communication and energy sectors, where these visitors presented, according to the spokesman of the Algerian British Businessmen Council, their practical suggestions to post and technologies of telecommunication, energy and mines ministers, focusing on the desire of the British investor to invest and to create strategic partnership with Algerian companies acting in the sector.

Amongst the most important suggestions and remarks that were advanced from the delegation is the pressing on the non-necessity of the privatisation of Algérie Télécom, and the possibility of the accompanying of an international group technically and technologically instead of selling it to foreign investor.

The British suggestions included, especially, the mentioning of the guaranteeing of the liberalisation of the company instead of its selling, because the participation of an international group in a technological and management partnership is bound to support the Algerian company. The British chiefs showed readiness to provide expertise and experience and the necessary technology to achieve this.

The second part of the British suggestions was focused on what is called the digital village, where the British investors proposed the creation of big information and communication centre, which will represent a complete net for multimedia, where the big companies will be present, and that will represent a regional centre with the support of British Telecom.

Arcelan Chikhaoui remarked that countries like Tunisia and Egypt are now competing for the creation of such big centres to become a regional centre and a wide poll in this field, and for this, the British representatives reiterated that are not looking only for selling and marketing their products, but they are looking for a permanent existence and this reflects their decision to open offices in Algeria and training centres to enhance partnership in a long term.
