Democratic transitions forum in Amman

The works of the forum staged by al Kawakibi Centre for Democratic Transition ended, yesterday, in Amman, Jordan, by a meeting of Secretaries Council chaired by HRH the Prince Al Walid Ibn Talal.




The council devoted the meting to debate and enriches the proposals presented by the experts on the activities and objectives of the center.

The meeting ends up by the adoption of the principal basis of the center, which is an international non governmental organization (GNO), specialized in the transfer of the Democratic transitions and experiences, as well as building of a proficiency in democracy. The center is also supporting the contribution of the Arab civil societies in the establishment of democracy and the set up of bedrocks for the good governance on the basis of social justice and economic development.

The council’s meeting was an opportunity for its members to discuss its activity fields and its organisational structure. In this context, they agree to raise the number of its members from six to eleven. At the end of the council’s works, counter outline for 2006-2008 has been approved.

As far as the center’s head office is concerned, the suggestion of Mr Ali Djerri (CEO of El Khabar Press Group), who is a member of the council, has been approved. The latter proposed to set up the head office of the center in Algiers, calling to undertake as soon as possible contacts with the Algerian authorities for their approval.
