Panic among inhabitants and policemen wounded

Second blast in Boumerdes

A handmade bomb exploded yesterday in Boumerdes (about 50 km east of Algiers), targeting a patrol of the national security, at four O’clock of the evening.

This operation, executed by the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), has led to the injury of three security agents, one of them would have been seriously injured.

The city of Boumerdes has known a situation of panic and anarchy after the explosion of a bomb in the main entry of the weekly market near the bus station; some witnesses indicate that the time of the explosion has permitted to avoid a big number of victims among citizens. The explosion has targeted a patrol of the security forces which was doing a mission of control of the traffic, a home made bomb was used, and it was put in a plastic bag and put out of sights among rubbish.

Responsible security services have indicated to El Khabar that the explosion happened when the car has arrived; the same sources indicate that the bomb was equipped with remote control, which means according to him that the executing party was targeting security agents without exception, the same sources add that this method is used by the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat.

The security forces have started, after the explosion, a large campaign of inspection waiting to complete the investigation, El Khabar has noticed a number of arrested people in the seat of security of the wilaya of Boumerdes, where they were heard, our sources indicate that the operation has caused three injured, one of them would have been taken to the hospital of Thenea where he has been emergently surgery on the stomach.

It is believed that the terrorist organization of the GSPC, directed by Dourdoukel, the called Abu Musab Abdelouadoud is involved in the explosion operation, it the second bomb in Boumerdes in few days, the city has been faced last May to a similar operation near the train station, which has caused two injured among security agents in addition to the dismantling of another remote control bomb not far from the first site.
