and it is the first time, since the opening of the political and media fields in the early 90’, that kind of study is being done. A simple look at the official figures that are related to the total of newspapers’ printing, which was unveiled by the communication ministry in a special edition under the title of “Print Media Guide”, has showed that El Khabar represents 31,54% of the total number of what is being printed by the Arab and Francophone newspapers put together, and this by printing 434300 copies, this after knowing that the total of the other printed newspapers is 1376950 copies each day, and this according to figures given by the ministry in its reading of the media landscape since 1990 and up to now. The study was accomplished by the communication ministry in collaboration with the centre of documentation of journalism and media .The number of the daily newspapers is 43 titles, 20 titles in Arabic, led by El Khabar, and 23 titles in French language led by Le Quotidien D’Oran which is edited in Oran wilaya with 149900 copies. El Khabar represents 64, 53% of the total of newspapers edited in Arabic, which means the third of what is being printed in Arabic, and which is 672950 copies every day, meanwhile, the printed Arabic newspapers represent 48% of the total number of the printed newspapers (in Arabic and French languages), thus the francophone newspapers are in the first place by 52% and with 704000 copies.
