Algerian Lobby is born

Algeria has inaugurated, on Tuesday, in Washington, “Algeria Committee at the US Congress”, which will have to work on different files to make relations between Algeria and the US closer, and to promote Algerian image in the United States.

Defending Algerian political, economic, financial, and military interests are also among the missions of the committee.

The inauguration of the Algeria Committee at the US Congress was supervised by Algeria’s ambassador to Washington, M. Kherbi Amine, and the committee, which is a lobby among the senate, will be co-chaired by California Republican senator, Ed Ross, and Mrs Sheila Jackson Le, Texas Democrat senator. The part to be played by the committee, the first of its kind for Algeria, consists in promoting the various relations with the US.

In this context, Algerian news agency reported different statement by congressmen, in the session devoted to the inauguration of the committee, focusing on the tasks of the new body as the development of Algerian-US relations, and the protection of Algerian interests, mainly as regards political, financial, diplomacy, military, cultural and social files.
