This confirmation intervenes after a declaration of the President of the Board of Directors of the group, Mr. Dominique Komoli, to the Reuters agency and to the French newspaper “La Tribune”, where he has indicated that “Altadis” was interested and was following projects of privatization in Egypt and Algeria. The group is trying to be more present in the Algerian and Egyptian markets by getting big parts in public companies submitted to privatization since a while after having recorded positive results since its presence from 2005, and this thanks to an agreement for the commercialization of the trademark “Gauloise”. The responsibles of the group have indicated to the weekly magazine “L’intelligent” that the group will carry a deep study and it will be done by studying the privatization file when the Algerian government will present the offer officially. This interest comes after the end of the preparing of a detailed report carried out by a German design department in last April and the preparation to choose a merchant bank to accompany the privatization operation of the National Company of Tobacco and Matches after the launch of the an international tender for this purpose.
