Because their number is increasing of a year to another, the results of the study of Forem at the time of May through five wilayas has showed that their number reached the 20 thousand children. These children are threatened of death at any time because they are confronted with any kinds of risks of the street, on this subject the figures of the United Nations of Childhood have affirmed that the children of the streets are threatened of death from at any moment, these same figures have fixed a maximum period going from four to five years as life time in these streets which are their only recourse. The Professor Mustapha Khayati, President of the national organization of the health promotion and the development of research, guest Saturday of Fatour Essabah, has talked about the situation of the children in Algeria, affirming that its organization, created in 1990, had especially put the stress on the living conditions of the children especially most underprivileged and those who do not have tutors. This organization has carried out considerable studies on the ground, the last were between 2005 and 2006, through which the Forem has wanted to note a number of phenomena which were spread these last years, these studies related to the propagation of drugs, tobacco among young people in addition to one study on the prostitution of the children. As regards the phenomenon of the children of street, the Professor has affirmed that it threatened the Algerian people considering the increase of the number from a year to another, results of the research of Forem at the time of May in five wilayas of the country and which are Annaba, Constantine, Tizi Ouzou, Oran and Ain Defla, and the recorded number goes from 15 to 20 thousand children in the streets, the professor has added that most dangerous in the situation is the total separation of these children from their families.
