Chinese cars start occupying a significant place in the Algerian market which is able to get 300 000 new cars per year.




As Chinese products were successful the Algerian market they are invading, and did well to eliminate any competence from Algerian or other foreign products. Industry sector in China attempts to realize the same success in cars domain. However, doubts surrounding Chinese cars reduce their chances to invade the Algerian market.

According to Marwane Halabi, China Cherry Automobile cars manufacturer’s representative in Algeria, «Chinese government started to be interested in cars industry, being encouraged by the creation of factories manufacturing spare parts and different marks accessories, and allowing to Chinese people to acquire required technology and to control industrialization and manufacturing costs.

Chinese companies have managed to manufacture a number of distinguished cars thanks to the government support expanding to Asia, Middle East and the Maghreb starting by Algeria, since three years, and selling more than 1000 Cherry cars in 2005, Hallabi says.

Algeria, Egypt, Syria and Sudan constituted a big part in exported Chinese cars whose rate exceeded 100 millions dollars toward Algeria and Syria. But why do Algerians buy Chinese cars? “Because of their quality and reasonable price”, Halabi replies. Concerning the secret of Chinese car success in Algeria, the same speaker indicates: comfort, large space, and a suitable motor of a Japanese technology.
