Brussels, are to announce their backing to the process of joining World Trade Organization (WTO) by Algeria as a response to the Algerian request that was presented by the Chief of government, Ahmed Ouyahia. A strategic agreement in the energy industry is also to be signed. The agreement made clear the will of the Europeans to make Algeria one of the most important countries to provide the European Union with energy. The partnership council meeting is then going to be held, after it was adjourned in March because of lack of accepted diplomatic representation that made Algeria sceptical in addition to other suspended issues. Algerian delegation will be represented by the Foreign Minister, Mohamed Bedjaoui. The European delegation is made up, among others, of high representative of EU foreign policy and security, Javier Solana. A part from the political and security matters, and the evaluation of the partnership, a decision was taken to start five groups which represent the agriculture, the fishing, the industry, services, environment, energy, justice, domestic matters and the information society and scientific research. Besides, the European Union will issue a political statement about Algerian reforms. S. Hafid — El-Khabar | ||||||||||||||||||
