Rejecting authorization requests by independent unions
Sunday May 14 2006.

The minister of Work and Social insurance, Tayeb Louh, unveiled, yesterday, the existence of positive measures in the interest of the employees in relation to wages which will be announced during the tripartite that will be held in September 2006.

“There are positive measures concerning wages and buying power in favour of workers”, he said. Besides, the minister closed the door, and for good, before authorization demands presented by independent trade unions. “The unions that were refused the authorization have nothing to do but to address the court.

The minister of work, Tayeb Louh, showed few features of the dossiers that the government will present to the tripartite in relation to wages file. Speaking to the Television Forum, the minister admitted the existence of positive measures that are being prepared and which are related to wages and buying power. Tayeb Louh who showed the tripartite as the unique format to be given the right to legalise these measures, the minister hinted to the fact that it exists a quasi agreement with the government partners in the tripartite to promulgate them. Wages and purchasing power are the axis of the tripartite discussions, but there are positive measures in the benefit of workers.

The work minister statements are in accordance with the appeasing declarations of the general secretary of the central union, Abdelmadjid Sidi Said, on the eve of the celebration of the international day of labour, who pressed that the tripartite will agree on pay raise in a way that responds to the insisting demands voiced by workers, the declaration that was described by the same minister, Tayeb Louh, as anticipated guesses.

In a different context, the minister of work and social insurance closed the discussion about authorization for independent trade unions, that have presented requests to the ministry and have been rejected, and, the first executive of the ministry “suggests” that the representatives of these syndicates should head to justice with their appeals against the ministry decisions. “The decision of the refusal is administrative, and they have the right to appeal through the judicial system”, he said. On the top of this, Louh criticises the performance of these syndicates, which, according to him, don’t respect the justice’s decisions, “there are people who defend the state of law, but when this law decides against their will”, they refuse to accept this law that they were defending, he says in this context.

The minister points out that demands that were presented by public service syndicates, a few days ago, are unwelcome and impossible to be materialised, also he criticised the performance of the trade unions that are behind what he calls “unlawful” protests.
