This interest has come in response to a national and international call for tenders published last July for 140 investments to run the ports. The operation is based on concessions system. The same official considered that such a number of investors registered for the first time will be exceptional if the investors confirmed their intention by submitting their initial offers next 5 September. During a press conference at the Business Centre yesterday Mr. Khalil Fayçal pointed out that 15 countries are represented by foreign investors. Most of them are from Tunisia besides some from Morocco, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Japan, South Korea and Peru as well as Arab countries such as United Arab Emirates. Such investments will enable revitalize and promote all investments on activities concerning fishing ports by equipping them in order to better use its capacity and spaces. Furthermore the investment will be achieved in the field of boats maintenance. Knowing that the government spends 40 million € in the maintenance of fishing boats. 80% of boats are repaired abroad and 15% inside the country. 8 maritime workshops are to be set up nationwide. In addition, the head of board of directors declared that during the 5 September meeting investors interested in equipping ports all advantages stated in the Algerian investment law will be outlined in order to incite investors show interest in all other ports without exception. Representatives of the Ministry of Participation and investment promotion, Agriculture and Rural Development Bank and Fishing Ministry will attend the meeting. | ||||||||||||||||||
