Chargé of public relations of the central trade union Mr. Abdealkader Malki said yesterday that a tripartite summit will be held Wednesday at the headquarters of the ministry

of Labour to speed up the principle of arbitration between federations and companies managing the participations of the State about the wage rises.

The summit will gather secretary general of the UGTA (General Union of Algerian Workers) Mr. Abdelmadjid Sidi Said, minister of Labour and Social Security Mr. Tayeb Louh and minister of participations and promotion of investments Mr. Abdelhamid Temmar to decide about the opening of the new season’s activity and the tripartite summit expected by the end of this month.

In telephone call, the trade union’s official explained that in the expectation of the decisive meeting the central trade union met yesterday leaders of the federations, federation of construction, public works and irrigation , commerce and tourism, ore and mechanics and Air Algerie Trade Union. The current situation was subject to negotiations with companies managing the State’s participations, the reasons of their failure and reserves and the reports submitted previously.

The tripartite summit’s agenda will include the issue of delayed payment of wages estimated to 04 billion dinars. The minister of labour is expected to make efforts in arbitrating between the federations and the companies managing the State’s participations and convince them to reach a deal including the workers’ right to a wage rise already announced officially by the government.

Such threatening of the central trade union will be realised on the field. The federations of tourism and commerce declared the state of emergency among its 25 thousand workers and incited them to cripple the sector in case their claims are not met. They also called on the executives of the company to hold an extraordinary meeting to decide on the way of dealing with the developments.
