Alliance between GSPC and al Qaeda causes France’s concern

The statements of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) of putting their men at the service of Al Qaeda sufficed to awake France’s old evils and fears of possible terrorist attacks.

Such statements came 48 hours after the threats of Al-Zawahri of seeing the Algerian Organization as a bone in the throats of the Americans and the French.

Chef of the GSPC Abdelmalek Droudkal indicated in the Group’s website “after consultation we have decided to recognize Osama Bin Laden as our first chef ...we will continue our combat in Algeria as his soldiers.

We will strike the people and the places he chooses for us. The communiqué is an evidence of allegiance of the GSPC to Al Qaeda. Abu Musaab called fighters of other organizations for a not-to-be-missed world jihad. He qualified Al Qaeda as the only organization capable of gathering fighters, representing the Islamic nation and speaking on its behalf.

France expressed its fears of such sacred alliance. We could read at the top of the GSPC website home page « a bone in the throat of the Americans and the French. (Al-Zawahri)

The French Press Agency (AFP) reported, quoting Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, the statement « we take the threats of the second man of Al Qaeda seriously ».

They indicated that “there is nothing new”. “This means that that France expects and forecasts such kind of threats. Since the 9/11/2003 we knew that the GSPC pledged their allegiance to Al Qaeda”, Sarkozy added.
