The ministry considered “the statements a serious development drifting against the stream of efforts to promote understanding between the followers of different religious.” In a communiqué copy received by El Khabar, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said “Algeria found the statements of the higher spiritual and political authority of Rome, the Pope, very strange. Consequently, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has sent for his ambassador so that he gives explanations on the statements disdaining Islam in such a way the whole Muslim people could not believe it. The communiqué explained what he dubbed as “inauspicious development” is part of the verbal transgressions allusion to the misunderstanding provoked by extremists from all over the world who aim at undermining the promises of dialogue and interaction between civilisations. And the international community is suffering from a rift, instability and confusion. Algeria consider the statements a serious development drifting against the good intentions of all the religions and cultures, which are exerting efforts to promote mutual understanding and respect between the followers of various religions. | ||||||||||||||||||
