A communiqué of the Association read that the general assembly met in an ordinary session in Algiers headquarters. It examined the development of 2005 and 2006 banking activity. During the meeting internal and external obstacles as well as means and ways of overcoming them had been defined. Pre-requisites were also adopted to expand the financial institutions activity. In the same context, giving priority to the new payment system, speeding up the use of electronic means and diversifying bank financing means for the benefit of the companies, families and the private sector have been stressed during the meeting. In addition, the meeting agreed unanimously on the trends aiming at promoting common banking activities, exchanges between banks and the common work of Algeria Bank, institutions and national bodies to expand the scope of banking activities. At the end of the general assembly the new council was elected. It is considered to be the body, which helps running the association, for another two year-term until 17 September 2008. President and General Manager, Mohamed Djellab was nominated new President of the Association. General Manager of the National Fund of Savings Djamel Bessa was nominated his Vice-president.
