Encouraging dead organs donation

Algeria needs 2000 kidney transplant annually, Dr. Djamel Eddine Welmene, “Primag” association head stated in a presentation of which El Khabar got a copy, the only solution is according to him to encourage organ donation including dead ones to spare lives of sick people.

Dr. Djamel Eddine Welmene considers that 19 November 2002 ministerial decree fixing ways and criteria of death report and organs transplant removed many taboo issues in Algeria, he further mentioned the main reason preventing Algerians from donating their dead relatives’ organs namely the religious motive, saying it unjustified since many fatwa in Islamic States say it is allowed.

Despite the strong prejudices prevailing among Algerians, it is up to the authorise to discharge its role of this policy promotion by the creation of official bodies networks dedicated to organs donation for Algerians awareness raising especially towards blood donation.
