Algeria recorded a surplus in its trade balance thanks to an increase of its exports of oil with an average of $1.45 billion compared to last year. The Statistics National Office’s assessment of the past nine months indicates a decline of Algeria’s imports in foods, medicines and industrialised materials at a rate of 2.2%. That made the trade balance between Algeria and Europe, which is considered as the only client in the field of foods imports, in favour of Algeria. Algerian exports essentially made up of hydrocarbons and its derivatives stand for $21.12 billion during the past nine months compared to $19.67 billion for 2005. France has exported to Algeria the value of $3.24 billion during the same period whereas Germany has exported the value of $1.099 billion. The third is Spain with $722 million and Belgium, ranking the ninth, with $414 million. Moreover, the USA has ranked first as regards Algeria’s exports to reach $9.140 billion for that period. Canada has imported the value of $2.386 billion of hydrocarbons. A. S | ||||||||||||||||||
