Mr. Tomihiro Tanigushi, IAEA Deputy Director and Head of Department of Nuclear Safety and Security revealed that some Arab countries: Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have showed interest in the using the nuclear energy for development purposes. In a statement to weekly “Middle East Economic Digest”, he said that “the Agency has made primary discussions with these countries governments and that a consultative technical program is to be offered to them to assist them in studies aimed at building energy facilities.” Western countries are anxious and refuse the idea of Arabs benefiting from any technology of the like.
