Meanwhile, the French Minister is trying to get closer to the Algerian community to support him in the elections. Algerian political parties have stressed on the fact that relation promotion built on historical ties between both countries is conditioned by the crimes recognizing. The National Organisation of veterans, through its secretary general Siad Abadou, explained “We expect nothing good from Sarkozy, he who destroyed the immigrants who contributed strongly in building France. His position as an extremist rightist led him to design the 23 February law glorifying the colonialism and immigrants’ oppression.” The stance of the National Organisation of veterans’ sons was expressed through its president Khalfa Mubarek who said that the visit is part of an election campaign. He said the organisation totally rejects it. The Society for Peace Movement (MSP) has considered that the position of France is expressed by Sarkozy and it is illogical and showing how much it lacks will to promote relations between both countries.” El Islah Movement said that “Algeria needs recognition and apology from French official authorities not from its elections candidate.” Mr. Mehri, former National Liberation Front (FLN) president, said that France’s apology about crimes it committed in Algeria is not enough to put relations between both countries in their right position.
