Most of which represent commercial loss (10%) whereas clients’ dues were estimated at 26.5 billion dinars. As regard three central provinces, including Algiers, unpaid dues have reached 6 billion dinars, of 1.6 billion dinars concerned households, the rest (4.4 bn dinars) is related to debts administrations and State-owned companies have to pay. Nationawide, Sonelgaz dues reached 26.5 billion dinars until late 2006, 30% of which are households’ debts and 70% are related to administrations and public companies, discloses Mr Gitouni. Sonelgaz had to cut electricity for their client to get paid, after negotiations it undertook with them had failed, the concerned people were asked to pay their debts following a schedule suggested by our agency, they refused, so have taken the decision to cut them out of power, says M. Gitouni revealing they are over 15 thousand clients concerned by the measure so far. Sonelgaz is still waiting to be paid by Public Works Ministry whose most projects have been partially financed through a partnership with Sonelgaz, and those dues are estimated to over 15 billion centimes, he says. Once Sonelgaz has settled this problem, it will be easy for it to achieve some of its investment projects estimated nearly 30 billion dinars this year.
