The report shows that Egypt got over 5.3 bn dollars of direct foreign investment in 2006 against 5.5 billion dollars in 2005, whereas Morocco benefited of 2.3 bn dollars in 2006 against 2.93 bn dollars in 2005. Algeria benefited of nearly the same value as Lebanon and Jordan, however, the report released by UNCTAD and ANIMA stresses that Algeria is still far from its real capacities as regard investments, especially as the figures include energy sector which gets the lion’s share of foreign investment in Algeria. Algeria didn’t get huge foreign investments out of hydrocarbons, Communications and pharmaceutics. Mediterranean countries -except Israel- which received 30.34 billion dollars in 2006, have witnessed a recoil, particularly Tunisia that had benefited of only 620 billion dollars against 720 bn dollars in 2005. Algeria is the only country to record a positive development of about 400 billion dollars. | ||||||||||||||||||
